The Holy Spirit Is Waiting for you

 

Good afternoon,

In the beginning, God created heaven and earth. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. (Genesis 1:1-3 KJV)

We’ve all read these opening verses of the Bible countless times.

We picture the nothingness, the formless void, the thick darkness. But then God speaks, and in a moment, light explodes into existence. But there was something truly special that happened in that moment that I never stopped to notice: the Holy Spirit was already there, waiting.

Before a single word left God’s mouth, verse 2 tells us the Spirit of God was moving—hovering, brooding—over the face of the waters.

The Hebrew word “moved” (rachaph) paints a picture of a mother bird gently fluttering over her nest, expectant and ready. The Spirit wasn’t passive; the Holy Spirit was positioned perfectly, waiting for the creative Word from God the Father to be released so He could perform it.

Think about that sequence. The Trinity in perfect harmony: the Father had the plan, the Word was spoken, and the Holy Spirit executed the instruction. The moment God declared, “Let there be light,” the Spirit sprang into action and brought order out of chaos. I have never before thought about the creation process taking place in this way.

And the most amazing part? This wasn't just ancient history. It’s the exact pattern God designed for our life today.

If you are a believer, the same Holy Spirit who hovered over those primeval waters now lives inside us. (1 Corinthians 6:19). He’s not distant or inactive—He’s hovering right now over all the “formless and void” areas of our life: maybe a broken marriage, an empty bank account, a sick body, or a hopeless situation. He’s waiting… just like in Genesis.

He’s waiting for us to do what God did: speak the Word.

We need to pray bold declarations! Scripture is clear—death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Jesus commanded us to speak to mountains, and they would obey (Mark 11:23). Why? Because when we release God’s written Word from our lips in faith, the Holy Spirit moves immediately to perform it, just as He did at creation.

Start speaking today. Over your health: “By His stripes I am healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Over your finances: “My God shall supply all my need” (Philippians 4:19). Over fear: “God has not given me a spirit of fear” (2 Timothy 1:7). Say it out loud. Declare it with authority. The Holy Spirit is listening, ready to turn your darkness into light.

This revelation has changed my way of thinking and the way I will approach my prayer life. I will now stop waiting on God to move and start moving the hand of God by faith by speaking His Word. The results I will be trusting for will be breakthrough after breakthrough.

Friend, the Spirit is hovering over your situation right now. He’s waiting for your voice. Open your mouth and release the Word. Let there be light in your life—because when the Word goes forth, the Holy Spirit always performs it.
